Undo Send Mail in Gmail

Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Thursday, May 14, 2009

Gmail will now let you perform an undo operation on the send mail function. So if you happen to send a mail and realized you missed something after clicking the send button, there’s a way out. Gmail will now give you five seconds to make up your mind i.e it’ll hold on to your mail for 5 seconds and if you don’t press the undo button it will send your mail.

To start using this feature you need to visit the Settings page and then go to the Gmail Labs page and turn on Undo Mail. Now this feature won’t undo all your pain. You won’t be able to pull off the undo function on mails which have already been sent.

That brings me to a question. Why not? Why not just pull an e-mail back even after it has already been sent and remains unread by the recipient?!
