Google has welcomed paid application from developers in US and UK initially. Developers can submit their applications on the Android Market and charge a fee for users to download and install the app on their Android based mobile phones. Initially the applications would be available to users in the US by the end of next week. Additional countries will be supported later on. Google Checkout will be the payment gateway for these paid apps.

Will the Android Market for paid apps be as successful as Apple’s? We’ll have to wait and watch!
